Its original name is
Peruíbe Beach, but is is widely known also as Cibratel
Beach due to the section of the city that was built
along the beach in the 60's - 70's. That's a very extensive beach, known by
the ancient locals such as the big sea (marzão in
Portuguese), because of the view of its vastness from
the Indians' Well Beach, located nearby. It stretches
from the Cibratel Rocks - that are in fact a landmark
showing the limits between the Indians' Well Beach and
this one - to the City of Peruíbe where the beach ends.
Its extension is greater
than 25 kms, which views are in constant change all
along the way as one gets away from Itanhaém, while at
the same time the Sea Mountain Range gets farther from
the shores around the Seagull Beach (Praia do Gaivota),
getting closer to the sea once again near the City of Peruíbe. These
mountains are called there (in Peruíbe) as Itatins
Mountain Range as they continue their path southwards
when they receive another name that is Juréia Mountain
Range. They literally seem to fall abruptly into the
sea.
There are amazing views of
the bluish green of the mountains and the deep blue sea.
Other names are given to the beach according to the
respective sections of the city located nearby. The
panorama is in constant change. Away from Itanhaém, the
region unveils its vastness, an immensity of fields and
forests spotted by solitary palm tress here and there.
This is a solitary place, devoted to the gods sun, sea
and sky, when all of them meet each other among an
amazing luminosity, inviting the visitor to relax
listening to the sea and the tropical birds singing.
