It is a very beautiful beach which sands, white and very thin, literally "sing" as one steps on them. Even after being
urbanized, it has kept a kind of secluded atmosphere thanks to
the great extensions of its white sands, one of its original
characteristics.
Before the
urbanization process, there were small dunes on the beach where
the jundu bloomed (a kind of plant still found there) and yet, where thousands
of small white crabs can still be found. The visual is
magnificent, with the set of the Sapucaitava and Piragüíra Hills
on the background. There are sporting fishermen on the beach,
day and nigh, since this is one of their favorite spots in the
region (nets are strictly forbidden). In the summer nights, it's
possible to see the moon coming out of the sea; it's a lovely and
unforgettable spectacle.
As one walks towards Suarão,
unforgettable panoramas appear such as the Givurá Island and the
Fishermen's' Beach.
The Downtown Beach is also known as Boca da Barra in Brazilian
Portuguese, the estuary where the Itanhaém River meets the sea.
A river that is a natural cradle for many species of fish, birds
and animals from the Atlantic Forest, what makes this region
famous and also widely known as The Paulista (from the
State of São Paulo) Amazon. Beware of the holes on the
sea floor, hidden under the water, so one who is going to
venture on these waters has to be cautious and know how to swim
well due to the obvious currents.
There's a very beautiful set
of houses near the beach, composing an admirable panorama. At
the end of the day, dozens of peoples gather on the beach or go
out for a stroll on the sands waiting for the sunset. This beach is
a terrific option for the whole family.
